Singing runs in this famous family! Psalmist Ruth Andrea Featherstone, the cousin of the 1st Lady of Motown, Mary Wells, is making her own history in the genre of Gospel music. She was Wells’ travelling companion from 1984-1988. Ruth’s hit single, “Your Love Is So Good” is a contemporary gospel song that is comparable to the Clark Sisters’ “You Brought The Sunshine.” Both have a catchy, somewhat secular beat with uplifting spiritual overtones.

Ruth, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has “fire in her bones” that sets off sparks when she sings. No matter where she is, she will praise God at all times and with song whenever she is asked. She has been asked to sing for small and large groups, for family, friends and other audiences; and she always obliges because it is another opportunity to uplift and inspire.

Ruth has the “joy of the Lord” that she wishes for everyone. No matter the struggle or problem, Ruth encourages and comforts with prayer and songs of praise. She shares her testimony of how God has been and continues to be her healer, provider, deliverer and commander of her steps.

Psalmist Ruth Andrea Featherstone is a native of Pittsburgh, PA, where she is known for being this generation’s “Mahalia Jackson.” Ruth started singing at the age of two at Green’s Temple Church of God in Christ in Pittsburgh, PA, where her father was the associate pastor and her mother a Sunday School teacher. Ruth received vocal training from world-renowned Josephine Harris of Fillion’s Studios in Pittsburgh, PA, Pittsburgh’s Center for the Musically Talented, Bella Burger's Studios in Culver City, CA, and one of Seth Riggs’ Level Five Instructors. She now resides in Los Angeles, CA, and is a member of West Angeles Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.
